It's been a year- How is Alterra Coffee from Flavia Faring?

It's been about a year since Flavia coffees & teas from M&M Mars released it's new recipes from the well known coffee chain, Alterra Roasters and Bright Teas. (For the one-cup Flavia systems.)

So how has it gone over?  Flavia distributors, at first, were understandably apprehensive about how loyal Flavia coffee drinkers would feel about the changed and somewhat new recipes. Aside from only the (very few) most cantankerous and stubborn of customers, the new Alterra & Bright Tea flavors have been gladly accepted and enjoyed by all.

Of the newest flavors, Alterra Barista's Blend has been clearly the biggest new favorite! It's a dark, smoky roast, reminiscent of Flavia's discontinued Intense Dark Roast, but with a much more complex flavor.

A medium roast that is gaining popularity is Alterra Foundry Blend- a plain and simple, yet tasty choice perfect for an after dinner brew.

Of course, the old faves are still going strong, though they have slightly different recipes and names. For instance, the old Flavia Breakfast Blend is now Alterra Morning Roast. Flavia Exotic Chai tea is now "Chai Spice".

Even the Alterra Flavia one-cup packets have gotten a real face-lift. They now sport a more trendy, colorful profile, featuring modern graphics. The Bright Tea packets are styled to enhance their focus on eco-friendly, sustainability, important to the modern consumer.

If you haven't tried the new Alterra coffees and Bright Co. Teas, then let yourself in for a treat- Join the thousands of happy Alterra fans!

The New Alterra Coffees... Where Do You Start?

Predictably, many people are not quite sure what to order based on their previous Flavia favorites.

It's easy to find a new Alterra flavor that will satisfy just like your Flavia. The key to figuring out what you're likely to enjoy from the new line is in the type of roast you're accustomed to. The new Alterra flavors are just as tasty and satisfying as your old Flavia recipes- but the recipes are definitely different, and that includes flavor intensities. Some of the flavors that used to be light are now medium, and some of the flavors are altogether new. The following is an explanation of how you can be sure to order flavors comparable to the ones you've always liked.

Flavia and Alterra have 3 basic levels of roasting, with 2 flavored varieties.

The lightly roasted Flavia coffees are Breakfast Blend, Kenya, House Blend, and House Blend Decaf. The new Alterra coffees that correspond to these light roasts are Morning Roast, Alterra House Blend, Alterra House Blend Decaf, and Alterra Costa Rica.

Medium Roasts from Flavia included Kona, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, and Columbia. With Alterra, the medium roasts will include some flavors of the same name, but some new flavors as well: Kona and Columbia are the familiar names with new recipes, while Altera Artisan Roast and Foundry Blend are the newcomers.

Your old Flavia dark roasts included French Roast, French Roast Decaf, Sumatra, and Espresso Roast. These names are carried on the the new Alterra dark roasts, with one new addition- Barista's Blend, which many say is the equivalent of the old Flavia Intense Dark Roast.

Big Raves for the New Alterrra Roasters Coffees and Bright Teas!

So far, it's been a great reception for the new line of coffee and teas made for the Flavia single-cup beverage systems. Alterra Roasters, the great Midwestern coffee chain, has hit a home run with both their new flavors, and their old favorite Flavia recipes.

The coffees are bolder, and somewhat fresher tasting- and that's a big deal since Flavia coffees were already ultra-fresh. For instance, the new Alterra Kona blend has that same wonderful, earthy and fruity taste with no bitterness- yet it's somehow more intense.

The Bright Co. teas are just what their name implies- bright, and a little more intense than before. The Chai is a little spicier, the Lemon is a little twangier.

For a familiar, yet freshly bold new take on your Flavia faves, be sure to try out all the Alterra and Bright Tea flavors.

Flavia Coffee goes Viral!

Have you ever bought something that you just couldn't wait to show your friends and family? A new car, maybe that 60" plasma TV...

Now, have you ever shared an item where everyone goes out and gets their own?
Probably not, but we've got one :-)

The Flavia single cup coffee system is truly revolutionary: it removes all of the lifelong negatives involved with making a great cup of coffee at home. And people LOVE IT! We hear stories every day about customers are buying a Flavia Fusion or other Flavia Drinks Station for several members of their family. Then, we hear about it spreading to their neighbors, friends, co-workers, and so on for a surprising run of that community.

Everyone is amazed at how cool the filterpack concept is. (If you don't know what I mean, watch our Creation 400 demonstration in this blog.) But, once they taste the great gourmet coffee and teas that come out of this machine, they have to have it.

Not only can it make everything from Cappuccinos, Mochaccinos, Lattes, Flavored coffees, Dark & Mild Roasts, Wellbeing Drinks, Real Leaf Teas, Milky Way Creations, & Hot Cocoa, but it does it with No Mess & Absolutely No Flavor Mixture in about 35 seconds! These drink stations delivery coffeehouse barista quality like no other machine. A frequent comment we hear..."I can't believe this came from a machine...It's too good!"

Another comment I've heard twice and will never forget... " This is the best thing I have bought in my LIFE!" Yes, people are nuts about our great coffee :-)

So, if you're a true coffee connoisseur, do those around you a big favor by introducing them to the Flavia phenomenon. They'll remember your revelation every morning for years to come!

Thank all of you for the wonderful stories that you have shared with us.

Flavia Coffee SB100 Brewer Video Demonstration

Here's a cute little video that we created in the wee hours one night.

Be sure to have your volume turned up!

It shows how to make a single cup of Flavia coffee in the SB100 brewer. It also explains a few of the advantages of the Flavia system.

Flavia Coffee - The blog begins!

The Flavia coffee system has got to be the greatest creation since man! (that includes WOman)
At least, coffee lovers agree! :-)

The single cup coffee revolution is sweeping America, but the original, that's right - Flavia, is still the best design and best taste out there! It started around 1982 in Europe and has been in the states since around 1996. Since then, dozens of single cup machines have entered the market, but none of them can solve the major problems like Flavia. We'll cover these in a later post.

For now, I just wanted to open the doors and welcome everyone to the wonderful world of Flavia. If you have a Flavia drink station, you know what I mean. If not, sooner or later you'll probably own one - then, you'll also know what I mean. :-)

In the mean time, I hope this Flavia Coffee blog is informative as well as entertaining. I'll try to keep you abreast on the latest developments at Flavia.
